Welcome to HR for Humans at Work’s Book Reviews and Requests page! We’re passionate about providing thoughtful, honest reviews to help readers discover the best in HR literature. Our reviews aim to highlight both the strengths and any areas for improvement, ensuring a balanced and authentic assessment. We don’t assign star ratings; instead, we offer meaningful critiques that focus on how the book contributes to the HR field.
While book reviews are only a small part of what we do, we take them seriously, knowing that our readers look to us for insights. Our broader mission is to humanise HR practices across industries, and these reviews are just one way we contribute to that effort.
Review Requests
Here’s how to request for a review for your book.
Submission Guidelines
We are happy to review books that focus on human resources, workplace culture, leadership, talent management, and other topics relevant to creating more human-centric workplaces.
- Book Types: We review HR-related non-fiction, including but not limited to management, organisational behaviour, diversity and inclusion, and professional development.
- Review Focus: We only write and publish reviews for books that we believe deserve 5 out of 5 stars, highlighting the books’ strengths and merits. Unfortunately, we cannot provide private feedback.
Review Process
We understand the need for efficient turnaround and transparent communication regarding timelines. Here’s how our process works:
- Completion Timeline: We aim to complete the review within 1 day to 8 weeks after the interested reviewer chooses to do the review and receives the book file, depending on the reviewer’s preferences and circumstances as well as the length and complexity of the content.
- Publication Timeline: Once the review is completed, publication may occur between 1 day to 1 year after receipt, depending on our editorial calendar and the relevance of the book’s topic to our upcoming features.
If our timing or process doesn’t align with your specific needs, we encourage you to check out alternative options like The Chrysalis BREW Project, which offers a variety of free and reasonably priced book review and other services. If you opt for The Chrysalis BREW Project’s paid services, use the code HR10 to get your 10% savings. The platform has also curated a massive list of book review blogs that can do reviews for your book, so check out their website if you want to know more.
Submission Requirements
To ensure a smooth review process, please adhere to the following guidelines:
- Preferred Format: We prefer electronic copies, especially PDF files, for quick and easy access. This allows us to commence the review as soon as possible.
- Number of requests: To ensure that we cater to as many authors and books as possible, we will only do 1 review per book, and 1 book per author. If you’ve never had a review published by us for any of your books before and your request has not been processed a year after you completed our form, you may submit another review request.
How to Submit
All requests must be accompanied by a completed form, which you’ll find on this page. This form is essential to ensure we have all the necessary information about your book and can effectively manage our review process.
We kindly ask that only complete and valid submissions be sent, as this allows us to devote more time and energy to reading and writing thoughtful book reviews as well as the other myriad ways in achieving the humanisation of HR and the world of work. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through each submission.
For questions, kindly use our Contact Form.
IMPORTANT: This free service is sponsored by Store with a Heart, made possible by The Chrysalis BREW Project, and facilitated by OneTribune. If we cannot find a reviewer for your book in this platform, we will submit it for consideration of our other participating platforms’ reviewers also at no cost to you. Kindly note that, for us to help as many deserving authors as possible, we limit our free service to a maximum of 1 review per book across all our participating platforms, 1 book per author, and 1 author per publisher/organization/company. Thus, if you already requested a free service from us before, please do not submit another request as your new request will be automatically cancelled. However, if your previous request was made more than 12 months ago and we have not published a review of your book, please feel free to lodge a new request.
